Dear Wife, I take this opportunity to write a few lines to you. We left Lowell and went to Boston, we did not find any chance there to sail for less than 200 dollars each. We then went to Worcester but was too late to do our business that day. We walked to Millbury stayed overnight. I left my coat there and took his watch, he paid 15 dollars for it; if I do not go we exchange back, the next day we went to Worcester and they paid me my money 159$. We stayed there at Mrs. Moors, that was Mary Davis. We arrived here Wednesday at 2 o'clock. Expense from Lowell here four 4 dollars each. Since we have been here we have seen all the steamers and vessels; we cannot go for less than 160 dollars each and a hard chance at that, and as we have only two thirds of that it is improbable for us both to go. William says he will not come back to Lowell. I do not know where he will go to. I shall either come back home or go on alone. I have just enough to get through . If I do go I shall be there in about a month and shall send home my earnings as fast as I can. you will probably go to mother and I will do everything right. If I had not sold my things and been to the expense to come here and knew as much as I do now I should I should just content myself at home. I shall never put your life in jeopardy by sending for you if I go. If I do not go you will see me in a few days. If I go William will tell you all about it. Give my love to all.
From your affectionate
Husband
